Landscaped parkland developed in 18th-c by William Kent with later updates by Capability Brown. Also exemplary formal gardens with terraces ornamented by planted urns and a stone balustrade. A charming summer house sits among impressive mixed formal borders. The extensive parkland provides views out to a domed temple in the distance.

Helmingham Hall

Impressive moated manor house with lovely Grade 1 Listed gardens. The house looks over a vast dear park with long avenues of oak trees. Near the house is an ornamental walled kitchen garden and a box-edged parterre surrounded by borders of musk roses and lavender, under-planted with bulbs and herbaceous plants. Be sure to visit the fine herb and knot gardens hedged in clipped yew (shown above).

Ickworth House

Magnificent stately home surrounded by Capability Brown landscaped parkland. There's plenty to see and explore, including the famous curved herbaceous borders, sweeping lawns, fine yew tree avenues and a formal Italianate garden. Many of the trees and evergreen shrubs planted here during the 19th-c have grown into quite impressive specimens.

Melford Hall

Fine stately home with exquisite formal gardens. The highlight of which is an unusual octagonal brick built pavilion. Within the gardens are deep curving herbaceous borders, punctuated by many fine mature trees. A lovely little herb parterre is divided by low clipped hedges and filled with old favourites such as germander, lavender, rue and sage.

Somerleyton Hall

Victorian country house with notable pleasure gardens, walled gardens and a fine yew maze. Among its many treasures are a fabulous long double herbaceous border, a kitchen garden and a fine Victorian parterre filled with old fashioned roses. There is also an impressive winter garden a long Wisteria archway and an ancient avenue of limes.
