Near the house is an ornamental walled kitchen garden and a box-edged parterre surrounded by borders of musk roses and lavender, under-planted with bulbs and herbaceous plants. Many of the trees and evergreen shrubs planted here during the 19th-c have grown into quite impressive specimens.

Within the gardens are deep curving herbaceous borders, punctuated by many fine mature trees. A lovely little herb parterre is divided by low clipped hedges and filled with old favourites such as germander, lavender, rue and sage.
